Cause and effect

Cause and effect is common way to organize information in a text. Paragraph which contain cause and effects of something. The order of sentences can be cause and then effect or effect followed by cause, because of, due to, since, for, and as a result.

Cause : an action which makes something happened.

Effect : the result of the action

Look at the examples below!

·         I came late to school because I watched a movie last night.

Cause : I watched a movie last night

Effect    : I came late to school

·         You should finish your homework, so you can play with your friends

Cause : you should finish your homework

Effect    : you can play with your friends

·         Since you failed in Math exam, you can’t go on holiday

Cause : you failed in Math Exam

Effect    : you can’t go on holiday

·         I often delay my breakfast and as a result I get stomach ache.

Cause    : I often delay my breakfast

Effect    : I get stomachache

·         I had backache; therefore, I went to the hospital.

Cause    : I had a backache

Effect    : I went to the hospital

 The example of the Text about cause and effect

It’s about my town, Oakville. Recently many new homes were built in a wooded area of the city. People moved into the land where deer and other wild animals lived. As a result, the only place the deer could roam is the city. Early morning, it’s usual to see deer walking down in the middle of the main street. They wander in people’s yards looking for plants to eat. It can run to the front of the cars. That’s a reason why our class has adopted the deer as a project. We’re writing a letter to ask city council to leave some wooded areas for the deer.
