The Important of Reading

        Reading habit is poor among Indonesians because most people haven’t realized the imortance of reading.

        Valuable books in libraries ad bookstores doesn’t have specific meaning  if they are not read, but once they are read, they become so meaningful, by reading, one knows the world. One will understand what one doesn’t see directly. The lines of the paragraphs in article contain pieces of knowledge. The knowledge is needed to improve the quqlity of human’s life.

        Most people in all developed countries have realized the importance of reading and they have good reading habits, in a bus and train stations, vehicles, waiting rooms, parks, we can see people reading. Why can’t we do the same ?

        Realizing the importance of reading will make someone motivated to read. When we know that something is very important because it can give us valuable information, we will get try it and learn something from it.

        A good understanding toward the importance of reading can be achieved through some well – organized and effective campaigns, but it is not an easy job, it requares a hard work from all components of the nation, especially the goverment as the highest level of a nation, and the parents as the nearest individuals from the young generation. A serious campaign which is organized by the central and local goverment can help common people to wake up and understand the wonderful experiences taht books offer.

        Therefore, a national- wide effective campaign of the importance of reading by all componentsof the nation should be done, and it should be supported and facilitated by the goverment. Globalization makes those people with little knowledge get the left behind. To catch up with the global changes, reading is a really important habit to have.
