LEARNING ENGLISH : SIMPLE PAST TENSE

 

SIMPLE PAST TENSE

Tenses ini digunakan untuk menyatakan sesuatu yang terjadi atau dilakukan pada waktuyang telah lewat .

Ciri – ciri khas Simple Past Tense :

1.       Predikat kalimat dalam bentuk tense ini selalu menggunakan” preterite verb “ atau kata kerja bentuk ke 2

Contoh 

-          I worked hard all day yesterday

-          You worked hard all day yesterday

-          They worked hard all day yesterday

-          we worked hard all day yesterday

-          he  worked hard all day yesterday

-          she worked hard all day yesterday

-          It worked hard all day yesterday

 

-          Dewi watched a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

-          I watched  a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

-          You watched a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

-          They  watched a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

-          We watched a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

-          He  watched a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

-          She watched a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

-          Tommy watched a film at “ XXIV “ Last night

2.       Kalimat tanya dibentuk dengan menambahkan kata “ did “ didepan subject , sedangkan negativenya dengan menambahkan “ didn’t “ atau “ did not “ maka kata kerjanya kembali ke bentuk semula, yakti kata kerja asal atau infinitive verbs.

Contoh :

1.       ( + ) Rod played a piano last night.

( ? ) did Rod  play a piano last night ?

( - ) Rod did not play piano last night

                  Didn’t

2.       ( + ) Martin wet to Bali yesterday

( ? ) did Martin go to Bali yesteday ?

( - ) Martin did not go to Bali yesterday.

                       Didn’t

3.       Kata keterangan waktu yang biasa digunakan dalam tense ini adalah :

-          Yesterday : kemarin

-          The day before yesterday : kemarin lusa

-          Just now : baru saja

-          Last night : tadi malam

-          Last week : minggu  lalu

-          Last month : bulan lalu, etc

-          Two days a go : dua hari yang lalu

-          Three weeks  ago : 3 minggu yang lalu

-          Four months ago ; 4 bulan yang lalu

-          Five years ago : 5 tahun yang lalu

“ LAST “ untuk menunjukkan “ salah satu titik” tertentu diwaktu lampau , sedangan “AGO “ menunjuk pada “ jangka waktu “ tertentu pada waktu lampau.

1.       A : Did you come to my house yesterday ?

B :  ( + ) yes, I did

       ( - ) No, I didn’t

2.       A : Did your father go to Merbroune yesterday ?

B : ( + ) yes, he did

      ( - ) No, he didn’t

3.       A ; Did Mrs. Martin visit the museum ?

B : ( + ) yes, she did

      ( - ) No, she didn’t

4.       A ;did Michelle and marchel arrive on time ?

B : ( + ) yes, they did

      ( - ) No, didn’t

5.       A : did that man do his job very well?
